England prop Joe Marler has escaped a suspension, despite admitting to striking Wales' Rob Evans in Saturday's Six Nations clash.

Marler will now be free to play in England's Grand Slam decider against France in Paris on Saturday.

The Harlequins forward appeared in front of a disciplinary committee in London today, where he accepted that he had indeed committed foul play, after appearing to make contact with Evans with his forearm.

Despite the admission, the committee, having looked at video evidence, upheld the complaint, but decided that the offence would not have warranted a red card had it been spotted by the match referee.

Subsequently, the decision was made that no sanction was necessary, leaving Marler available to play again immediately.

If they beat France at the weekend, England will complete a clean-sweep of victories in this year's championship, achieving their first Grand Slam since 2003.
