Sharks full-back Willie Le Roux had a painful moment as he landed horribly on his neck. Highlanders' Jason Emery was shown a red card for the tackle

The Highlanders' Jason Emery was shown a red card for this hot-headed hit on the Sharks' Willie Le Roux in Dunedin.

Early in Friday's Super Rugby match in Dunedin, Springbok full-back Le Roux went up to take a high ball, and Emery flew into him.

Le Roux recovered to resume his duties on the field but Emery played no further part as he was shown a straight red for the reckless challenge.

The Sharks went on to win the encounter 15-14, with two of their troops shown yellow cards - Stephan Lewies and JP Pietersen both falling foul of the referee for cynical acts.

The win puts the season back on track for the Durban-based side who were beaten by the Blues last weekend, while the loss was the second consecutive one for the Highlanders after suffering a shock defeat to the Reds in Brisbane.
