Australia are considering moving one of their Bledisloe Cup games against New Zealand, with London and New York among the possible venues.

The Australian Rugby Union is scouting venues inside the country and overseas with Sydney's Olympic Stadium, a regular host for their matches against the All Blacks, set to undergo a major redevelopment from 2019.

Bledisloe Cup matches have been held outside Australia and New Zealand before, twice in Hong Kong and once in Japan, with all of those games proving to be financially lucrative.

England will also play host to a first Rugby Championship game later this year, with Argentina taking on the Wallabies at Twickenham on October 8.

"We are a global game so global opportunities will present themselves," ARU general manager Rob Clarke said.

"Argentina are playing their home game against us at Twickenham in the Rugby Championship this year, so there is a precedent there.

"It is a wonderful ground and certainly I think it would be a huge hit. We would be open-minded to that if the RFU were interested in having a discussion.

"We have to balance that against rewarding our fans here in Australia and giving them top-class rugby content. So we wouldn't make that decision lightly, but it is certainly part of the framework.

"Even a city like New York, where there is a strong Australian and New Zealand expat presence, have expressed interest in getting more international rugby content. It is a consideration for us, certainly."
