Wigan centre Oliver Gildart is facing a lay-off of up to three months with a back injury sustained in his side's 26-18 Super League defeat at Leeds.
Gildart, who was making his first appearance after recovering from a knee injury, was hurt in a tackle by Leeds forward Brett Ferres that earned his opponent a spell in the sin-bin.
"He's seeing a neurologist today," Wane said at his weekly press conference ahead of Thursday's home game against leaders Castleford. "It's a serious back injury and he'll be out for two to three months.
"We'll let the powers that be deal with it. My job is to get the team ready for Thursday."
Wane hopes to have centre Anthony Gelling and second rower Liam Farrell back to face the Tigers while Sean O'Loughlin, Joe Burgess and Lewis Tierney could all make their returns over Easter and hooker Michael McIlorum is back in full training as he nears a comeback from a 12-month lay-off with an ankle injury.
