Verdict

A low-key end to the day with KARAKA JACK taken to build on two solid handicap efforts in April when filling the minor placing on both occasions. He makes considerable appeal with the talented Harry Bannister aboard, who is making quite a name for himself with some eye-catching performances under NH Rules. The selection has also gone well here on more than one occasion in the past, seemingly relishing the long home straight. The combination of a win last time, Brian Ellison and Simon Walker obviously ensures War Poet a place on any shortlist and he's better than the claiming level at which he was successful last time. Mica Mika will also receive sound assistance from the plate and this consistent gelding should be there or thereabouts for a yard with an excellent track record.
