Verdict

A hot little race and all six are respected. The Johnston pair of Communique and Poet's Prince provide the Middleham yard with a strong hand and the former could well prove his Royal Ascot running all wrong as he had hitherto looked so progressive. He's a good ride for the constantly improving David Egan. Wissahickon hacked up on the all-weather in late May and enters the 'could be anything' category for John Gosden, whilst Elector will find this easier than the King Edward VII Stakes he contested at Royal Ascot. His three previous starts were crammed with promise. Crownthorpe does need to improve but BERINGER has looked highly progressive the last twice and is taken to improve again on the understanding that this represents his toughest task to date by far.
