A typically competitive renewal but the RAC Stakes at Goodwood three weeks ago could be the key trial. Havana Cooler finished third with Van Percy fourth and ELIDOR a close-up fifth. There should be little between the trio again here but Mick Channon's colt looked the one most likely to be suited by a longer trip and he'd shown plenty of resolution earlier to land the King George V Stakes at Ascot. He still holds an entry in next month's St Leger. Great Hall is unexposed and beat Debdebdeb, Hawk High and Argent Knight over the trip at Haydock last month, though he looks an out-and-out stayer. Dark Crusader and Ambleside are both chasing a hat-trick but need to raise their game again in this grade, as do Divergence and Snowy Dawn, but it would be no surprise to see a big run from Mister Impatience.
