Countermeasure made the pace for stablemate Time Test in a Group 2 here last month but will be running on his own merits today. He possibly has the beating of Air Pilot but still hasn't won a race and is up against proven performers at this level. Gabrial was only sixth last year but Custom Cut won the race in 2014. Tullius won a Group 2 over 1m2f here last year and returned to winning ways at the Derby meeting at Epsom in June but Haydock second Scottish has only raced over this shorter trip once before and wouldn't want any rain. Sir Michael Stoute has won this with a three-year-old filly in the past and DIPLOMA's victory in a Listed race here last month received a boost when the runner-up won at Newmarket a week later. She's won over 7f so this drop in distance shouldn't be a problem and she handles all types of ground.
