Verdict

WESTERN PRIZE was having just his third start when beating subsequent winner Manifestation at Newbury and he showed inexperience in the closing stages. He will be suited by this trip and looks well treated. Cunning Act has run twice at this trip and won both times so he's respected as is Whiplash Willie, who looks certain to appreciate the extra two furlongs after battling to victory at Goodwood. Kinyras, beaten a long way by Whiplash Willie on soft ground at Salisbury, bounced back at Goodwood and there's probably more to come. Apache's run at Ascot should be ignored as he stumbled badly but stablemate Admiral Of The Red makes his handicap debut from a very high mark after being beaten a long way in a Group 3 at the Curragh. Luca Cumani has a good line on the form of this event so the presence of Lyric Street, who is having just his third start and his first beyond 1m2f, is very significant. Parlour Games landed a Shergar Cup race in good style and though that didn't look the strongest of events the fourth-placed Thubiaan caught the eye and he's one to watch.
