The enigmatic Kingsgate Native won this as a two-year-old so it would be no surprise to see a big run from David Wachman's colt Requinto, who won the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood and receives a hefty weight-for-age allowance. Prohibit finally gained his reward form some sterling efforts in smart company when landing the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and shouldn't be far away again but the drop to 5f could catch out July Cup second Bated Breath, though he'll like the going. Sole Power was on his best behaviour when winning this 12 months ago and it would be no surprise to see the filly Margot Did bounce back to form as she had the worst of the draw at Sandown last time. Wizz Kid, Inxile and course specialist Masamah are others with claims but Mick Easterby doesn't waste entries at this level which suggests he thinks HOOF IT can handle the step up in class. Hugely impressive in winning the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood, the four-year-old is still improving and can grab this big prize for the locals from a decent-looking draw.
