Seven of the last nine renewals have gone to three-year-olds. Abingdon was stepping up to this trip for the first time when runner-up to Fireglow in a Listed contest at Newmarket. She was carrying a penalty for an earlier victory over 1m2f at this level at Newbury which also applies here. TIPTREE, who was almost eight lengths behind her at Newbury, got within a short-head last time and looks a typical Luca Cumani improver. She's a daughter of Duke Of Marmalade so can be expected to make further progress and Jamie Spencer can steer her home. Although very consistent, Twitch has had 11 starts without winning since her maiden victory at Pontefract last July while Lustrous has run 13 times without success since winning at this level over a mile on the track in 2014. The latter's stable companion Pandora won a handicap over 1m2f here in June but will need to do better.
