This is a very competitive Listed race and Three Graces is narrowly preferred to Quito, Arakan and Peter Paul Reubens. The Godolphin string appears to be in as good form as it has been all season, and Three Graces produced his best effort of the year so far at Chester last time, when he made all to land a hot conditions stakes, beating Vanderlin by half a length and smashing the track record in the process. He should have little difficulty confirming form with the third home, Suggestive, and similar tactics here could well pay dividends. Quito has been a wonderful servant to David Chapman and this is effectively a big drop in class for him, as he has been contesting Group One races in his last couple of starts. He seems to run particularly well at York and cannot be ruled out of consideration, although his penalty may just find him out. Arakan has yet to get his head in front this year, but finished half a length in front of Quito in the July Cup and is five pounds better off here, so has to come into the reckoning. He wasn't disgraced in Group company at Goodwood last time and again has to be on the shortlist. Peter Paul Reubens has only had the three runs this term and they have all been fair efforts, particularly last time when going down narrowly to New Seeker in a big handicap at Newbury. A line through Traytonic gives him the slight beating of Quito, and he also holds Jedburgh on last year's form at Chester. Babodana could be given a chance at these weights but his best form is unquestionably on soft ground and the baking sunshine of the last couple of days will not have helped his chance, so for the selection in what should be a cracking race, we'll stick with Three Graces.
