TOP NOTCH TONTO (NAP) invariably runs well here and the rain has come at the right time. The battle-hardened seven-year-old won a Listed contest here in 2015 and was placed at Group level in his next two starts on the track and the assessor is loosening his grip. Firmament has only run here once, winning a Class 2 handicap in fine style in August, but is 13lb higher thanks to four cracking efforts at Ascot. Chelsea Lad has won twice at Newmarket and was strongly fancied on his reappearance following a very long break in the Spring Cup at Newbury but finished lame. Another Touch finished runner-up in that latter event and was only just beaten in a strong handicap here in October while Thikriyaat is lightly-raced and hasn't been seen since August but he won first time out as a two-year-old and last year so the lack of a recent run shouldn't pose a problem. Cote d'Azur shot out of the stalls from his wide berth in the Hunt Cup at Thirsk and made most and he won here in July though wouldn't want any more rain.
