Statement is unlikely to represent any value in the betting market and, with Mubeen probably better on a softer surface, the vote goes to Grand Passion, who should improve for the step up in trip. Statement represents the in-form stable of Sir Michael Stoute and has to be respected but, having been readily out-pointed by Rahaf, who has since been beaten off a mark of 89, on his return at Catterick recently it is difficult to recommend him off a mark of 90. Although successful on fast ground as a two-year-old, Mubeen is by Barathea and should be better suited by a softer surface as when a creditable third to the progressive Excellento at Thirsk last time. Grand Passion looked a horse to keep on the right side of when an impressive winner of Sandown's Esher Cup over a mile when last seen in April. The absence since should not be a problem and, with improvement to come over the longer trip, he is taken to defy the rise in the weights. After some disappointing efforts this season, Go Tech has slipped to an attractive mark and has claims if back to his best but we are happy to stick with the selection, who has solid claims.
