In depth

Verdict

A competitive opener with a number of in-form rivals in opposition including Browning who confirmed the promise of his Newbury fourth in August when justifying favouritism over this trip at Haydock the following month. However, Marcus Tregoning's gelding has been raised 5lb since to his highest-ever mark and he may struggle to concede weight all round. Dual-purpose performer Loop The Loup bounced back to form when slamming his rivals by five lengths at Doncaster in June but had his limitations exposed next time off a 9lb higher mark and looks held by the handicapper at present. King Flyer, King's Crest and Malarkey are all in top form and should be considered but Dr Cool needs further nowadays and Simple Ideals faces a stiffer task having landed a weak Redcar heat last time. Malarkey is unexposed but has to prove his stamina so the TEAMtalk vote goes to Knavesmire Omen. The gelding showed himself to be in top form after landing a useful Newmarket claimer last weekand his local owners will be hopeful of a bold show before heading to the October Sales.
