      Verdict

A number of in-form performers contest this decent prize. Heretic is likely to be popular under a minimal penalty for his recent Sandown win but it is worth remembering that he was turned over at long odds-on in a small field by his stable companion in an earlier contest. Donna's Double landed the mother and father of all gambles at Newcastle but she has won on significantly softer but is likely the bookies will be taking few chances. Muchea should appreciate the ground today and could be the surprise call. Mick Channon's yard are bang in form and the handicapper has him at a much more realistic mark these days. Calcutta could take a hand if on a going day but he can never really be backed with maximum confidence.
