Verdict
Kickboxer and Musical Comedy fought out a finish at Haydock with the former just prevailing. He hasn't run badly in subsequent outings but was beaten 4l by Storm Trooper at Sandown earlier. The latter has since run moderately at Leicester and has plenty of weight while the race that Spiceupyourlife won at Ripon hasn't worked out particularly well. Makin The Rules has run well in two similar races after his maiden success and his rider's claim is a bonus but it was impossible not to be impressed with the victory of AEOLUS at Chester. Ed McMahon's colt overcame trouble in-running to score by 7l and with more to come he'll take all the beating.
