In depth

Verdict

It speaks volumes that James Doyle prefers BOCCACCIO to the twice-raced Dark Of Night. Charlie Appleby’s Dubawi colt cost 850,000gns and is the first foal of a Group 3 winner so will be expected to hold his own in decent company. Jockey bookings suggest the Frankel colt Herman Hesse is the pick of John Gosden’s two runners but he’ll almost certainly be better over further. Richard Hannon is also double-handed with Al Namir a half-brother to two 7f winners who scored at the first time of asking and he is preferred to Pitcher. Dramatic Sands is a son of 2000 Guinea winner Footstepsinthesand but his dam was best over middle-distances.
