UNCLE KEEF can return to the winners' enclosure now returned to the scene of his sole success. Marcus Tregoning is hardly firing in the winners but this well-made gelding is now only 1lb higher than when successful here in June. He should handle the ground and is narrowly preferred to the dangerously well-handicapped Sparkaway. Mediterranean Sea has a great all-weather record but his record on the turf (including behind Uncle Keef) is poor, so bigger threats may lie with the useful hurdler Hippodrome or What A Day whose stable are now in much better form than earlier in the year. Chateauneuf's fine effort at Carlisle from out of the weights means that she joins recent winner Fuzzypeg and Marcus Antonius as interesting contenders at the foot of the weights.
