The unexposed Merayaat can put a seal on what has been a great weekend for Marcus Tregoning after Mubtaker's win at Goodwood. Although nowhere near that class of performer, the selection is fancied to have the scope to improve past the likes of Sir Monty and Wester Lodge, while King Flyer is a tough performer that can well at longer odds. Wester Lodge also has scope for improvement and can make a good fist of it with his challenge. He went down fighting at Bath earlier in the month and a similar effort will see him in the frame again here. Sir Monty will benefit from the assistance of Kerrin McEvoy and will not be found wanting for assistance from the saddle. He improved for the step up in trip when he last raced and it will be noteworthy to see if he is supported this afternoon. Nevertheless, the first one to look at is Merayaat. The step up to this distance brought the best out of this daughter of Darshaan when bolted up in a maiden at Lingfield at the start of this month. This is a fair bit tougher and nothing can be taken for granted. However, Merayaat is open to stacks of improvement and she can become the latest well-bred individual to carry the Maktoum colours to victory if she continues to progress in the manner anticipated.
