In depth

Verdict

Some real old characters here and Barry Island is backed to take this race with Top Seed, Jarvo and Wyeth put up as alternatives. Barry Island has not sparkled for some time but he remains inceredibly well treated these days off a mark of 50 on the turf having won off a rating of 73 a few seasons ago. Top Seed is not the easiest to predict. He won as he liked at Bath but consistency was never his strong suit in the past and he has to be taken on trust today. Jarvo has done most of his recent flat racing over shorter but gets the trip.Wyeth takes a first step into handicaps and having been handicapped on soft ground form, it will be interesting to see if the assessor has done his sums correctly. Inch Lodge looks plenty high enough in the weights. Wizard Looking is not a frequent winner by any stretch of the imagination but he handles faster ground better than many in this field. Granary Girl is ordinary though consistent. Not a race for the housekeeping monies and we are with Barry Island.
