      Verdict

NICK VEDDER, who had previously gone close throughout the campaign, came good with victory at Doncaster recently and sets the standard despite a welter burden. Ideally suited by this trip on quick ground, he gets the nod as long as the rains stay away. Spinart was below par last time but is generally solid at this level and Spencer is a good booking by Pam Sly. He looks next best, though City Guest would have needed the run last time on his return from an absence. Recent course winner Kraka landed the spoils first time up for his new yard but Gabrielle has been generally modest this term, though her penultimate run when second here was an effort worthy of mention in this grade.
