Filligree makes most appeal in the finale and it's thumbs down for Young Gladiator who makes his debut on turf tonight. The filly has been well placed by Rae Guest (who has won with each of his last five runners at the time of writing) as she escapes a penalty for her win in an apprentice handicap at Brighton six days ago. Rossini Byline was one of those behind on that occasion and it's hard to see why John Spearing's runner should reverse the form as the Kyllachy filly only needed to be ridden clear to record a four length success. Young Gladiator responded well to pressure to justify strong market support at Southwell but he has to prove his effectiveness in this arena against a well handicapped filly and is, therefore, easy enough to overlook. Rosie Says No finished in front of the selection at Chepstow on her penultimate start and merits close consideration with last season's joint title holder in the saddle but underfoot conditions and the track are contrasting. Nice Dream isn't dismissed but still has a fair bit to prove and we readily prefer the proven claims of Filligree.
