In depth

Verdict

Norcroft is given a narrow vote in a wide open contest, Banjo Bay and Piccleyes look to be the main rivals. Christine Dunnett has a fine record here at Yarmouth and Norcroft has the form to go close here. He has been steadily dropping down the weights and showed improved form last time when just three lengths behind Lincolneurocruiser at Wolverhampton. The slight drop in trip should suit and a big run is expected. Piccleyes hit winning form last time at Southwell beating Contented. He has to shoulder nine stone thirteen this afternoon but should still be involved in the finish. Banjo Bay never got in a blow at Kempton last time behind Goose Chase but his previous defeat of stable companion True Night in a claimer reads very well and he looks set for some place money. The pick of the others could be Peggys First, but Norcroft is one the way back and is a sporting choice in a tricky event.
