In depth

Verdict

Hotel du Cap and Archerfield Links probably have the best form of those to have raced previously but this may well go to one of the newcomers with preference for Sir Michael Stoute's Dan Dare, who gets the vote over stablemate Karlani and Mark Johnston's Falkirk. The last mentioned is a well-related son of Selkirk that hails from a yard that has been doing with their juveniles first time out of late and he has to be respected. Karlani, a half-brother to the owner's useful pair of Karasta and Kasthari is likely to need more time and a longer trip, while Chilsdown should improve for the longer trip having disappointed over the minimum on his Haydock debut. Hotel du Cap ran better at Goodwood last time and has the benefit of experience, while Archerfield Links showed promise on his Newmarket debut and now has the assistance of Frankie Dettori. Dan Dare is a half-brother to several winners, most notably Flemensfirth a winner over a mile as a two-year-old and he may well be straight enough to win first time up.
