Verdict

Country Reel has not been at his very best this season but should have too much class for these rivals, Flushing Meadows and Dowager could be the ones to fill the places. The pick of the Godolphin challenger's form this term was at Royal Ascot, when finishing a close up fourth behind Fayr Jag in the Golden Jubilee Stakes, if returning to anywhere near that form he will be very difficult to beat. The selection's stable-mate Flushing Meadows has joined them from America where he was successful in two decent sprints, before finding the mile trip a bit taxing at Belmont Park. He may need a couple of outings to acclimatise, but should still figure in the finish today. At her best, Dowager can be given an excellent chance, although recent performances haven't been up to scratch. Colonel Cotton and Atavus add even more intrigue to this event, but Country Reel is group class and should be capable of landing this event.
