As per usual these ladies events are quite competitive and tonights opener is no different. Joely Green isn't one to rely on, but is more than capable, while Katmandu and Astanax are others of interest, but the vote goes to Needwood Mystic, who goes particularly well for her rider having been successful five times together. The mare is in the form of her life, but will need to be to defy a career high mark. Fourth in this last year, she meets the winner that day Camzo on 18lbs worse terms. Last years winning combination of Camzo and Annie Elsey bid to follow up of the same mark. However, he has struggled this term and is probably best watched this time around. Astynax will be better suited by this trip having not quite lasted home over the stiff two miles at Chepstow, while the unexposed maiden Katmandu, may be capable of improvement at this trip. Both Digger, who has won for Emily Jones and course and distance winner Woodyates are both worthy of respect, but we will stick with the in-form Needwood Mystic, to keep her run going.
