Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute has a 30% strike rate with his juveniles at this track over the past five seasons and we are tempted by his option in this race, Albaasil, but THE PADDYMAN ran decently on debut and will have come on for that run and we side with him ahead of Time For Applause. The selection ran well just half a length behind Lord Of The Stars last time out at Newmarket. For a first run this was respectable and more can be expected this time round. Assuming progression then he should have the better of the newcomers. Albaasil has obvious claims if justifying his cost of 320,000 guineas and this is a good chance to prove his potential. There are reservations considering it is his first run out though so we prefer to watch on this occasion. The yard have a good record here and he will be well prepared going in to the race, but the experience of our pick may be enough to get the better of him. Time For Applause is bred for speed but failed to show it on debut. She will need to put in a much improved run today to contend for the win. There are dangers to our selection from the unexposed types but we side with The Paddyman to snatch the victory.
