In depth

Verdict

Pick Up The Pieces stuck on well to make a successful front-running debut at Newton Abbot and there's every reason to feel he'll come on again for Pipe and Scudamore. However, he concedes 7lb to last month's course and distance winner, LEADING THEATRE, who appeared to score with something in hand that day - indeed the concession rises to 12lb with Harrison's handy 5lb allowance taken into account. Miss Velveteen is a threat to both off just 10-3 after such a promising Southwell debut when just outbattled by a more experienced type and Sandy Maraschino and Foillan are probably the pair requiring a market check for Fry and Newland respectively.
