In depth

Verdict

Hawthorn Cottage was a game winner at Warwick in May but this is a competitive novices’ chase. Three-times hurdles winner Present Ranger remains unexposed over fences and Exod'ela has won between the flags and over timber. Coral has gone up 4lb for last month’s course and distance success and Wigglesworth has been raised 3lb for his victory over track and trip but both enter calculations. Saint Palais was out of luck over hurdles last season but went very close earlier over fences in France. The Macon Lugnatic should make a chaser but HEAD ON’s run at Perth last time was too bad to be true. Twice a winner here earlier, he still looks well treated.
