Spuradich has been found a soft opportunity to open his account and should do so, with only Sharaab and Earl's Rock likely to test him. Jonjo O'Neill's five-year-old was a very useful 10 furlong handicapper for Luca Cumani and was fully expected to score on his Cartmel debut in July. It may well have been that he needed that first outing in 10 months, but there was definitely no excuse next time at Southwell where he was only third. That effort was too bad to be true and we are prepared to give him one more chance. If Spuradich cannot come good here then he is one to avoid in future. Sharaab was a maiden on the Flat but shaped well when chasing home Smart Boy Prince at Market Rasen and should at least be placed again in this company, while Earl's Rock has plenty of experience but was beaten by Lake Merced at Stratford so Jonjo should have a line to work on. For the winner we return to Spuradich.
