In depth

Verdict

Red Bells showed progressive form in bumpers and is taken to make a winning start to his hurdling career, getting the vote ahead of Opens All Doors and Pelo Du Bief. The last mentioned ran much better at Sandown last time and would have claims if handling the faster ground today but that is an unknown quantity for him so he looks best watched. The Evan Williams-trained Havenstone should do better now that he is back on a faster surface but needs to improve on all known form to trouble the judge, while Nicky Henderson's Monty's Salvo has given little cause for optimism so far. Jonjo O'Neill's Opens All Doors is probably better than he showed on his debut and has to be considered but Red Bells has plenty going for him and he is preferred.
