      Verdict

      A small-field contest this handicap but there are plenty in with chances of which Samurai Jack, Petrichan and Kokila make our short-list with a slight preference for Kokila. The William Haggas-trained three-year-old was a length behind Outlook in a claimer over this course and distance in February. That horse was the winner of a Wolverhampton-handicap earlier this month and it may be worth taking a chance that he is well treated on his handicap debut. Samurai Jack was making his British-racecourse debut when winning a maiden over this course and distance earlier this month. His form in Ireland was modest but he acquitted himself well that day and he has Eddie Ahern on board today. He is sure to go close again. Petrichan won back-to-back races at Southwell in January but he went up seven pounds for those wins and he may struggle again today. Kokila gets a tentative vote in a wide-open looking handicap.
