Beamsley Beacon is a speculative choice over Dorn Hill, Aintnecessarilyso and Strathclyde to name but three. Although this is only a Banded race there are certainly plenty in with a shout based on recent form. Beamsley Beacon has been plying his trade mainly on the Southwell Fibresand but finished runner-up twice on this track last winter and the switch back to this surface may just bring about the desired improvement. Dorn Hill has obvious claims, having quickly taken to the Polytrack. She came good with the aid of cheekpieces at Lingfield and has more scope than most. Aintnecessarilyso was only just denied by Ragash at Lingfield and if that was no flash in the pan then he too has claims. Strathclyde stayed on for third without threatening too much at the Surrey track a fortnight ago, and the step up in trip will help, but in a wide-open contest we shall take a chance with Beamsley Beacon.
