        Verdict

        THE STEWARD looks the safest bet in this, despite a 6lb rise for winning at Kempton earlier in the month. He was narrowly beaten over track and trip before that and is preferred to the returning Sparring, who won all three starts earlier this year but has not raced since April. Luv U Whatever was last seen at the track in the same month and is best at Southwell anyway while Gabrial The Hero was well beaten at Doncaster on last month's recent belated reappearance. Brandon Castle looks high enough in the weights but stays the trip well and is preferred to Rotherwick on that score.
