Nicholas Nickelby gets the nomination here ahead of Over Rating, Realism and Valerian. The selection stepped up on his debut effort when second here over seven furlongs last time out and, hailing from a stable that does very well at the all-weather tracks, has an obvious chance. John Gosden's Over Rating does not look straightforward. She showed reasonable Turf form in maidens before finishing second here last time over a furlong-shorter trip, with Realism, who she meets on the same terms today, five lengths away in third. Overall, that looks form enough in this modest event to make them both competitive. Valerian is an interesting raider from Ireland. His form there is not great by any stretch of the imagination but he did suggest there might be better to come when fifth at The Curragh last time. Watch the betting market for clues. Running through some of the others. Compos Mentis has one decent effort to his name, but that came as a juvenile. Suerte showed some improvement last time at Redcar, but it isn't hard to prefer others. Silver Crystal aslo showed improved form last time but will need to do so again. Nuzzle has shown the odd piece of Turf form, being placed seven times in 21 starts, but it has been at a modest level. This leads us back to Nicholas Nickelby, who can confirm the promise of his run here last time, and follow up over this longer trip.
