An open contest gets proceedings underway and the market may be the best guide as to what is expected of the newcomers but the principals look to be Calamintha, Flake and Caroubier and we will take a chance on the hurdling debutante Calamintha. The three year old won a seller in good style over one mile and six furlongs on her last run on the flat she is sure to have been well schooled for this her hurdling debut and she will make a bold bid to make all. Caroubier rates the main danger he won well last time out when defeating La rose. He looked an improved performer on that occasion and could easily defy his penalty. Flake is also worthy of respect he was a fair third on his debut behind Boarder Tale and is sure to improve. Boing Boing won well on his debut but was out classed in a much better race last time. The drop in grade is sure to suit and he will not be far away but we are happy to side with Calamintha.
