In depth

Verdict

Speed Venture, Dancing Pearl and Pougatcheva look the principals in this wide open handicap and the selection is Speed Venture. The gelding from the John Mackie yard was a fair fourth behind Marked Man last time out and a reproduction of that effort would see him go close.Dancing Pearl rates the main danger on her best form but she is weighted up to the hilt and may come on for this run her first in 231 days. Pougatcheva is another that could go well but although he travels well in his races he finds little off the bridle so for that reason he is opposed. Border Star was pulled up last time but he is sure to strip fitter here and his stable is beginning to hit top form. Of the remainder Russian Court is from a yard in form and is worth noting in the market but we are happy to stick with Speed Venture whose stable has a good strike rate in these events.
