In depth

Verdict

It is hard to get away from HUCKING HEAT in this handicap and he is our pick ahead of Quince and Scarab. Reg Hollinshead has his string in sparkling form at present and that is a big factor in nominating Hucking Heat. He was only narrowly beaten here last time and he has a good draw today so there is plenty to recommend him. Quince ran well enough last time but he doesn't have the best draw here and the worry is that the handicapper might just have his measure. Scarab remains unexposed but he disappointed at Lingfield last time out and he will need to leave that running behind to make his mark today. With the yard in such good form it would be foolish to ignore Opera Writer, but he looks the second-string today and we will stick with stable-mate Hucking Heat as the pick.
