Poet's Pride’s victory here in February came over the minimum trip and he’s undergone wind surgery since last in action over 6f at Thirsk. Secondo has been placed over the latter distance lately while CALIN’S LAD (NAP) struggled in soft going over 6f at Pontefract last time. But Mike Appleby’s charge had earlier been beaten only a short-head over course and distance, with both Gold Flash and Rockesbury behind, and may prove the one to beat with an apprentice taking 7lb off his back today. Sooqaan won off today’s mark at Southwell early this year but is at his best on the Fibresand and never threatened here last time.
