Young Scotton, Raquel White and Zalkani are the three for the shortlist here with Young Scotton taken to follow up a win last time. After a spell in the doldrums, dual winning hurdler Young Scotton bounced back to form with an excellent second at Catterick in August, and although disappointing since, he gained his first Flat success over this course and distance last time. He is turned out quickly under a penalty and looks capable of taking this. Raquel White is a modest performer but she has a little July handicap at Beverley to her credit. She showed signs of returning to that form last time when a good second here, and this extra quarter mile may suit this modest performer. Zalkani last won back in March but some good runs in defeat now mean that he is two pounds higher in the handicap. Two good seconds recently suggest though that he cannot be ruled out here. However, we believe that there is better to come from Young Scotton, and he is a confident selection.
