        Verdict

        Axel Jacklin looks the pick of Mark Johnston's pair as he's been racing in better company though has disappointed since a neck defeat at Newmarket in May. SMART ILLUSION made all to land a Musselburgh nursery and was having his first all-weather start when just failing to hang on at Kempton. He's certain to take some catching and has the beating of Pesci, seven lengths behind at Musselburgh, though Richard Fahey's charge showed improved form when tackling this surface for the first time three weeks ago. Tom Dascombe has his horses in fine form and Swift Justice could show some improvement for the fitting of a visor.
