Verdict

This most wide-open of handicaps to close the card can go to Penang Cinta ahead of The City Kid, My Michelle and Golden Spectrum to name but a few. David Evans has his team in good shape at present, and Penang Cinta can be fancied to gain another course-and-distance success on the back of some fairly consistent efforts round here. The gelding landed a nice touch for connections on his debut for the stable in February, and since then has not had the best of luck in running in two further visits. Drawn in stall two today, he will hopefully get enough room up the far rail to make amends. David Evans knows all about The City Kid, having trained him to land four career victories, and since then the four-year-old has moved to Simon Dow and now Conor Dore in two straight moves. He has a high draw to overcome but should not be discounted, and nor should My Michelle, despite being 2lb worse off with the selection for a close beating in February. Golden Spectrum is in receipt of weight all round so has to merit a mention as well, but for the winner we return to Penang Cinta.
