Verdict

Sweetwater is strictly held by Little Richard on running here last time over 1m4f but may be able to reverse the form over today's longer trip; however, Stef Liddiard's gelding may have to settle for a minor role behind Zeloso, who gets the vote. The selection has held his form well during the winter and did not have the race run to suit at Southwell last time when narrowly beaten by Cayman Calypso with Johnny Alljays held in third place. A stronger pace seems guaranteed today and that should play into the hands of Zeloso, who is taken to resume winning ways. Cayman Calypso is far from certain to stay this longer trip and of more interest may be Bill Bennett, who takes a big drop in class and showed enough at Pontefract recently to suggest that a race of this nature would be well within his compass. King's Mountain has been off the track for some time and was seen most recently in a point-to-point which is hardly normal preparation for a return to the flat but he cannot be ruled out entirely, while The Beduth Navi has been showing a consistent level of form. Zeloso has an obvious chance though and is taken to resume winning ways.
