Wazzis has an obvious chance and is readily preferred over stablemates Hint Of Spring and Scarlet Ibis, while Theta is another to monitor for signs of support. The last named - a Henry Cecil-trained newcomer - is a half-sister to Short Skirt and is sure to come into her own over a longer trip in due course. However, anything the former champion trainer sends out in a race of this nature is worth a second look. Notes should be taken for future reference. Scarlet Ibis has several winners in her pedigree and it is unfeasible to think that she is not capable of paying her way before too long. The daughter of Machiavellian was a little headstrong on her debut at Lingfield (last month) and possibly failed to get home as a result. That outing will have helped her mentally though and, with Jimmy Fortune doing the steering, she is likely to be given every assistance from the saddle. A bold bid cannot be ruled out. Godolphin also send out Hint Of Spring, who, on breeding, should be ideally suited to the trip. Again, she is one to bear in mind for the future and is an interesting prospect for next year. However, Wazzis sets the standard for the time being and is expected to put her experience to good use this afternoon. William Haggas has been hitting the post with his string recently but not many have held the scope of Wazzis, who can be fancied to gain some compensation on this occasion.
