Former Irish runner AMERICAN LIGHT sets the standard in this maiden on his debut for his new yard and he should get off the mark here at the expense of Brynfa Boy and Rocket Ruby. The pick joined David Simcock's operation for just under 6000 guineas and while that looks to be a accurate reflection of his ability he could be capable of more. He was out gunned in handicap company last time but his maiden runs at Dundalk show he has some talent and handles this surface. Brynfa Boy has plenty to find according to the ratings but did run a cracker in defeat in a Newmarket handicap on his penultimate start. That said, he disappointed the last time we saw him and doubts remain over the surface. Rocket Ruby gets the fillies allowance and looks the main danger to the selection. She has been running consistently well and was only just headed over course and distance last time. Misterisland is given a chance at the ratings but is wildly out of form so in a competitive looking maiden American Light can score on his UK debut.
