Black Falcon is the pick of this bunch with Allez Frank and York Cliff the alternatives. John Harris' Southwell specialist would be a very warm order were this at the Nottinghamshire track but he can handle this track and while handicaps appear out for him these days, he is a consistent enough sort at this level. Allez Frank had form over middle distances in Germany before taking to the National Hunt game. The market will tell us what to anticipate. York Cliff won readily in claiming grade over course-and-distance. He appears to get on well with Eddie Ahern and can make his presence felt. Musango is not particularly obvious as selections go although Tim Vaughan has saddled plenty of winners over the last fortnight. Mighty Kitchener is probably better over further and he showed little to write home about on his most recent start. Saameq makes his first return to the racecourse for almost a year. Weet For Ever is a long standing maiden. The admirable Mi Odds has had a sizeable break off from racing and today will arguably decide whether he goes to enjoy a long retirement or not with his trainer. The remainder appear decidedly difficult to enthuse about. A race strong on numbers but light on likely winners and we are with Black Falcon.
