In depth

Verdict

Mighty Kitchener is taken to shrug off the burden of topweight at the expense of Rock Haven, Veba and Thorny Mandate. This moderate contest for horses rated 46-60 should take little winning, and the most consistent of them, Mighty Kitchener, successful here in January, has obvious claims. Paul Howling's runner has only had two outings since then, and should now be spot on in a bid to see off the likes of Rock Haven. The latter was having his first run for new connections when a close second here three weeks ago, and as that was his first outing since last September, improvement can be expected back over this longer trip, although his tendency to hang is a worry. Veba has a couple of placed efforts to his name, and was a little unlucky-in-running at Lingfield six days ago, while Thorny Mandate has the assistance of Jamie Spencer and is better treated than two years ago. All those mentioned can play a part, with Mighty Kitchener the one to beat.
