mid-division, headway on inside over 2f out, kept on to chase clear winner close home
A chance is taken with Winthorpe who is selected ahead of New Options, Silver Dane and Mynd. It would also be dangerous to completely rule out a bold bid from Madrasee, who was third on her only previous visit to Dunstall Park, and she does not have much to find to again make the frame in this company. Mynd has been holding her form well enough to be respected at this level and, having responded well for Jean Pierre Guillambert when they were last paired off together, she too can make a fist of it today. Silver Dane has been struggling off this sort of mark on turf after winning at Doncaster in July. However, he was not beaten far in an apprentices race at Goodwood last month. And, with Kristy Millczarek again talking a handy 7lb off with her claim, he can do his bit to make this a competitive opener to the card. New Options also make appeal as an each-way hope, as the eight-year-old was a multiple winner on the artificial surfaces during his time in Norway at the start of his career. Peter Grayson has kept him ticking over with a series on near misses of late and he may be the one to give the selection the most to do if he runs to his best. However, Winthorpe also has the assistance of a 7lb claimer and is expected to throw down the gauntlet at an early stage. He is very well treated for this return to the All Weather and, with John Quinn's string running up to scratch at present, he stands out as the one to be on in this company.
