    Verdict

Firmage Burg will have been bought to go jumping but she was second on her first start in the country over this trip at Kempton in January. Simon Crisford clearly believes there are races to be won with Saroog and the son of Nathaniel will be qualified for handicaps after this - he showed promise in a couple of runs on Turf last summer. General Ginger won a jumpers’ bumper at Kempton last month and has also won two races over hurdles but this should be easy pickings for COUNT OCTAVE if he is fully wound-up. Successful over course and distance a year ago, he went on to run Stradivarius to a neck in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and was also second in the March Stakes at Goodwood. Sixth in the St Leger in September, he looks in a different league to his rivals.
